2014 Updates:

If your youth's hopeful roommate just came in for Open Enrollment, and the session they want is showing as full (or On Hold) you can:

Registration Information

Continuing Education User ID/Passwords

To register for EFY, you must have your own Continuing Education user ID (or BYU Net ID) and password. To create a user ID, go to http://cereg.byu.edu.

Each person needs only one user ID to register for any Division of Continuing Education program. If you have forgotten your user ID and/or password, click on the “Forgot User ID” or “forgot password?” links. If you need help, please call Registration at 1–877–221–6716 (toll free). Please do not create a new user ID if you already have one.

Every year you register for EFY (or any other Division of Continuing Education programs), you will use your user ID and password. Each participant must have his or her own user ID and password.

NOTE: Never tell anyone your password, other than a parent.

The personal information for each participant must be correct to avoid problems that result from being listed with the wrong gender, age, or name. Some parents have switched a child’s account to another sibling. This can result in a wrong gender, age, or name. If a participant is listed as the wrong gender, he or she will be registered in the wrong housing type. If the problem is not fixed quickly, the correct housing for the participant’s gender could fill up.

Cost of EFY and Payment Details

See the Cost of EFY and Payment Information Details page.

Deadlines

Registration for each EFY and Stay–at–Home Program closes at 11:59 p.m. mountain time, two weeks before the session begins. Any transfer, withdrawal, or change to your registration must be completed no later than 11:59 a.m. mountain time, two weeks before your session begins. No refunds will be issued after that date and time.

First–Come, First–Served Priority

We wish all youth could have their preferred EFY session, but each session has a limited number of participants. To find an open spot, keep checking our Session Schedule page.

If the spot you were trying to register for is gone when you log in, that means someone else beat you to it. You will have to wait to see if another spot opens later. If you apply and register during priority registration, your wait time should be much shorter.

Our application/registration process has been revised to dramatically reduce your wait time. We appreciate your continued patience as we work to improve our service to you.

Group Links and Groups

We now allow only two youth to be linked together (as roommates). They must be registered for the same session and be of the same gender and age group. See "Roommate Link" for Overnight sessions or "Stay-at-Home Friend Link" for Stay-at-Home under "Know These Terms" below.

If your ward/branch/stake would like to help a group of youth from your organization attend an Overnight or Stay-at-Home EFY in 2014, please have your ecclesiastical leader contact Jenna Sellers at 801-422-3817, ext. 2.

Please do not call and request a "special exception" of three (or more) in a group.

Priority Registration – Inviting Priority Registration Friends
Does not apply to Stay-at-Home Sessions

If you were selected for a priority registration date and have registered, you can pick three Priority Registration friends to enroll starting on that priority registration date.
NOTE: This is not a roommate or group request. Priority Registration Friends can be 3 youth of any gender or age group since it does not link them as your roommate. Please do not call and request a "special exception" of three (or more) in a group.

After enrolling, you can provide the confirmation numbers for up to three others. Your confirmation page will have a button to select so you can add Priority Registration Friends, or you can log into your account and add the Priority Registration Friends by clicking the “Continue” button under “Edit Program Selections.” To be chosen as Priority Registration Friends during priority registration, these three others must also have submitted an application to EFY. When you enter a friend’s confirmation number, his or her name will appear so you will know if you entered the number correctly. You can edit these “friend” fields (Priority Registration Friends can be changed or removed) until the Priority Registration Friends register in any EFY session.

After a Priority Registration Friend enrolls, his/her confirmation number can no longer be removed or changed on your record (even if he/she withdraws from EFY). You will need to notify your selected Priority Registration Friends that they are now eligible to enroll—they will not be notified through our system.

At this point, your Priority Registration Friends can log in individually and enroll themselves—provide the remaining personal information, such as parental release data; choose a session; and pay for their registration.

If a Priority Registration Friend invites you to register earlier than your priority registration date and you accept that invitation, your application becomes disabled. That means you forfeit the right to pick three additional Priority Registration Friends. If you are not happy with this, you can have the original applicant remove your confirmation number. You will then be eligible to enroll during your own registration time and will be given the opportunity to choose your own three Priority Registration Friends.

Priority Registration Notification

If you participate in Priority Registration, you will receive an e–mail SOMETIME BETWEEN JANUARY 15TH AND JANUARY 21st. This e-mail will indicate when you can re-enter the registration system and enroll in any available session of your choice. If for some reason you do not receive an e–mail by January 21st, call the EFY office on that day at 801–422–3817, ext. 0. If you are inviting three Priority Registration Friends to register on your priority registration date, you need to notify them that they are eligible to enroll; they will not be notified through our system. Feel free to call our office or Registration if you have questions during this process. (See Contact Information).

Privacy Policy

BYU is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information submitted by youth and parents who register for EFY. As part of the registration process, you will be asked to submit certain personal, identifiable information, such as credit card information. BYU will only use this information for the internal purposes for which it is provided. BYU does not share personal, identifiable information with others.

Refund Policy

You may receive a refund (minus a nonrefundable $20 withdrawal fee) when you withdraw from an EFY session by 11:59 p.m. mountain time on the Monday two weeks before your session is scheduled to start. After that time, you will not be able to withdraw or receive a refund because:

  • We will have already contributed financially to institutions where EFY sessions are held and do not receive refunds from them when one or more of our participants is a last-minute no-show.
  • Accommodations (housing and all other arrangements) are finalized two weeks before the session begins.

Beginning two weeks before the session starts, we CANNOT issue refunds for any reasons such as:

  • Work- or school-related conflicts
  • Sports-, music-, or theatre-related conflicts
  • Family vacations/reunions
  • Missed withdrawal deadline
  • Did not understand withdrawal deadline
  • Confused the dates/location of EFY session
  • Participant refused to attend
  • Participant refused to comply with dress and appearance standards
  • Preferred companion is no longer attending
  • Preferred companion request not granted
  • Unable to find transportation to the session

If the card you used to pay no longer exists, the refund will still be automatically credited to that card’s account. You will need to contact your bank card provider to transfer this credit to an active account. We cannot refund payment to a credit card other than the one originally charged. If you have concerns, call the EFY office.

If you have withdrawn yourself or a participant from a session, be sure to log back into the participant’s account and double-check that it shows "withdrawn." You should receive your refund in one to three weeks. If you do not receive your refund within three weeks, please call the EFY office to check the status. No refund requests will be considered after October 31 of a session year.

Refunds will not be given for a participant who is sent home for violating EFY standards and rules.

Registration Tips
  • Follow the detailed boxes above.

  • Registration for EFY programs must be done online by clicking a "Register Now!" Button above or by calling the Registration Office toll free at 1-877-221-6716 or 801-422-8925.

  • Registration for Stay-at-Home programs begins each year during the first week of February at 9:00 a.m. Mountain Standard Time.

  • Occasionally the computer does not link a transaction. It is always smart to check after a few days to be sure your session (and roommate, if you desire to make a request) choice is correct.

  • You will receive a confirmation email 1-2 weeks before the session begins. If you think you are enrolled in a session and do not get an email, please call our office. If you receive an email and you thought you dropped or transferred a session, call our office immediately and correct the registration. Deadlines are necessary to effectively manage our sessions. Fees are charged if changes are requested when a deadline is past.

  • Registration Review/Confirmations

Log into your account (using your Continuing Education User ID) to view all details. You can then view your registration, housing, roommate request, and parental release information. If you have trouble generating the page, you can call toll free 1–877–221–6716, 801–422–3817 (ext. 1 or 0) or 801–422–8925. Please verify that you are registered for the session and dates you wanted. If you desire a particular roommate, confirm that your desired roommate is listed in your registration. Both roommates should have the same link number. Changes can be made up to two weeks before the session begins, but are not possible after 11:59 a.m. (mountain time) two weeks before the session starts. Please call with any problems.

    Roommates

See the roommates tab on the policies and general information page

    Saved Spots in Sessions

We do not hold spots for sessions. The best way to register is online through the Priority system. If the session you want to attend is already full, keep checking online for open spaces. If you want to attend with a friend or relative and there are no available spots in your desired session, try to find another acceptable session that has two openings. We would like everyone to be able to attend the session of their choice, and we will do all we can to help.

    Substituting Participant

We do not allow substitutions. Please follow our withdrawal policy if you need to withdraw. If you have an extenuating circumstance just before the session, call and speak with our Office Manager. The university does not allow us to transfer funds from one youth’s account to another.

    Transferring Sessions

Anytime during the priority registration or open registration periods, you may log in and transfer from one session to another—up to 11:59 p.m. mountain time on Monday two weeks before the session begins.

If you are transferring to an Overnight Session, you must withdraw from your Stay-at-Home Session and re-enroll in the Overnight Session. Your funds will remain in your account and the $20 withdraw fee can be refunded by calling the Registration Office or the EFY Office Manager. (see numbers below).

To transfer online, login and follow these steps:

    • Select your EFY registration under “Registered Programs.”
    • Click on “Transfer” under “Enrollment Options.”
    • Select the session you want to transfer to.
    • Fill in roommate information, if any (your roommate information does not carry over when you transfer to another session). You will need to use a different roommate link number.
    • Your parental release information should carry over. Click “Continue.”
    • Read and accept the Dress and Grooming Standards (you must accept the standards to attend EFY).
    • Confirm your personal information, then click “Continue.”
    • Confirm the payment information, then click “Continue.”
    • If a payment is due, click “Continue” at the bottom of the page. If no payment is due, click “No Payment Required.”
    • You will come to a confirmation page—this confirms your transfer has gone through.

If you prefer, you can call the Registration Office (toll free 1-877-221-6716 or 801-422-8925) to have them complete your transfer for a $20 charge.

Confirmation of your transfer also will be sent to the e–mail address on file. If you do not receive a confirmation e–mail or do not see a confirmation page, please call the EFY office, 801–422–3817, ext. 0.

Remember, it is your responsibility to confirm that your registration is complete and accurate.

    Walk-ins

If a session has open space, walk-in participants will be allowed for the cost of EFY plus $20.00. If you are able to participate as a walk-in, you will be required to provide credit card information, cash or a check.

We do NOT guarantee any spots at EFY for would-be walk-in participants.

NOTE: Please do NOT send your youth to an EFY session to walk in if he or she cannot easily get back home. There is a high possibility that he/she will NOT get into the session. Room for walk-ins at BYU is rare.

    Withdrawals

You may log in and withdraw from your session for a nonrefundable $20 processing fee. The final withdrawal deadline is 11:59 p.m. mountain time on the Monday two weeks before your session is scheduled to begin. After this time, you will not be able to withdraw, transfer, or receive a refund. Housing and all other arrangements are final at that time.

    To withdraw from a session:

    • Log in to your youth’s account, and her/his current registrations will appear.
    • Select the Withdraw Option at the bottom of the page.
    • Click the Confirm button that you wish to withdraw.
    • You will come to a confirmation page. Print the page or write down the confirmation number for your records. Also, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address on file. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail or see the confirmation page (or have questions), please call the EFY office at 801-422-3817, ext. 0.
    • Be sure your account shows your withdrawal before you anticipate a refund. No refund requests are considered after October 31 of a session year.
    • ***PLEASE NOTE:

    • Once you withdraw from your session, you will be automatically refunded the cost of EFY, minus a nonrefundable $20 fee. This fee will not be refunded, even if you withdraw by accident or re-enroll in another session, so be sure you want to withdraw before so doing.
    • If you have a refund coming, you should receive it in one to three weeks. If you do not receive your refund within three weeks, please call the EFY office to check the status. If you have questions about withdrawing, please call the EFY office at any time.

If you have any trouble with the withdrawal process, call the EFY office at 801-422-3817, ext. 0, or e-mail us at efy@byu.edu and we will complete the withdrawal for you. If you choose this option, please provide:

    • Participant’s name
    • Birth date and log-in name
    • Confirmation number
    • Your relationship to the participant
    • The session from which you wish to withdraw the participant

You are responsible to make sure your registration is withdrawn. If you make a written withdrawal request but fail to provide all the above information, we will be unable to withdraw the participant. Please see our Refund Policy.

To be finalized, all e-mailed withdrawal requests must be time-stamped before the two-week, 11:59 a.m. mountain time deadline. We will send you a confirmation e–mail. If you don’t receive the confirmation e-mail, it means the process was not completed, and you will need to contact the EFY office.

Occasionally the computer does not link a transaction, so it is always good to go back in after a few days to be sure your session request is correct.

    Inviting Others
Does not apply to Stay-at-Home Sessions

Allows up to three other Priority Registration Friends to register at the same time you do in the Priority Registration Period. This does not link anyone as a roommate, simply helps you register earlier. This is NOT the same as a roommate link.

    Roommate Link (for Overnight Programs)

For a roommate link to be complete, both youth must be enrolled in the same session and be in the same age group. Be sure to use the same link number and spell each other's names exactly the same when doing a roommate request.

Listing someone as your roommate does not enroll them in your session. Please do not call and request a "special exception" of three (or more) in a group. (See Group Links and Groups above.)

Note: Putting a name down as a roommate request does not guarantee a spot for a person if they have not registered. For more details see the Roommates tab on the Policies and General Information page.

Stay-at-Home Friend Link (for Stay-at-Home Programs)

At Stay-at-Home Sessions, youth may request one "Stay-at-Home Friend" rather than a roommate. Stay-at-Home Friends must be of the same gender and age group, and will be the youth's Stay-at-Home Friend for the week.
