Faculty Employment Apply Instructions

We are no longer accepting applications for the 2008 teaching position. Applications for 2009 will be available at the end of August and will be due by October 1, 2009.

Qualifications for an EFY Teacher:

Required

  • Desire to teach doctrines of the gospel
  • Desire to teach youth, ages 14 – 18
  • Online application
  • Video Submission

The video submission should be of you teaching the youth, ages 12 – 18. This video should be a substantial amount of time (recommended 20 – 40 minutes) and the teaching should be focused on the scriptures and gospel principles. We do not call our teachers “speakers” therefore; we expect student participation throughout the class. Simple principles such as Search, Analyze, and Apply should be employed. For more information on what kind of teaching we are looking for please see the “Online Resources” tab on the Teaching Tools page of our website.

If applicant is a full time CES employee, an observation by the area director will replace video submission.

If applicant is or has been involved with the EFY program as a Counselor, Building Counselor, Health Counselor or Coordinator we encourage them to wait 4 years to apply for a teaching position.

Recommended

  • Religion 370 – Intro to Seminary Teaching
  • Religion 471 – Methods to Seminary Teaching
  • “The Teaching Emphasis – Training Resource DVD”

These classes are for those that are interested in becoming seminary teachers or for those that want to gain more insight and skills used in any classroom setting. They are NOT required before you teach at EFY but will teach you the valuable skills that we look for in EFY teachers. We strongly recommend these classes.

We also encourage you to borrow this Teaching Emphasis DVD from the local institute, seminary, or CES coordinator. This DVD will give you great insight into the kind of teaching that the Church Educational System is looking for.
