EFY Volunteer Counselor

Area programs are intended to serve those youth who would not be able to attend an overnight session of EFY because of the high cost. These programs are offered at a lower cost because of two differences; there is no overnight housing, and the EFY counselors are volunteers who give their time and talents to serve our youth.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assigned to group of 10-15 youth of the corresponding gender
• Responsible for the physical and spiritual well-being of each participant for the entire week long program
• Both formal and informal teaching is required
• Be a proper example of a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ

Requirements

• Be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in good standing (temple eligible)
• Male applicants must be returned missionaries or 21 years old
• Female applicants must be a minimum of 19 years old with one year post high school work or college experience
• Enjoy working with youth
• Have good public relations skills
• Be able to work well with coworkers
• Be able to motivate and teach youth
• Be able to work long hours
• Be able to motivate and discipline when necessary
• Be Service oriented
• Be comfortable in small groups
• Be prompt, reliable, and flexible
• Be organized, teachable, and dependable
• Be responsible to provide own travel to and from sessions at own risk and expense
• Must abide by the Especially For Youth counselor dress and appearance standards

Preferred

• Previous experience working with youth

All male applicants must be returned missionaries.
