EFY Paid Counselor

EFY Counselors are the single most important factor contributing to the success of the program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assigned to group of 10-15 youth of the corresponding gender
  • Responsible for the physical and spiritual well-being of each participant for the entire week long program
  • Both formal and informal teaching is required
  • Be a proper example of a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ

Requirements

  • Be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in good standing
  • Have one year of college, or one year of work experience out of high school
  • Male applicants must be a minimum of 20 years old by June 1, 2008
  • Female applicants must be a minimum of 19 years old by June 1, 2008
  • Enjoy working with youth
  • Be able to work well with coworkers
  • Have good public relations skills
  • Be able to work long hours
  • Be able to motivate and discipline when necessary
  • Service experience
  • Be comfortable in small groups
  • Be organized, teachable, and dependable
  • Be responsible to provide own travel to and from sessions at own risk and expense
  • Must abide by the Especially For Youth counselor dress and appearance standards

Strongly Preferred

  • Returned missionary

Preferred

  • Previous experience working with youth
  • ASL fluency (for the ASL accommodated session)
