What is Best of EFY?

Best of EFY is a one-day event meant to motivate and strengthen seminary-age participants while providing wholesome entertainment.

The schedule for Best of EFY is:
1:00 p.m. Counselor Training
2:00 p.m. Participant Check-in
2:45 p.m. Introduction
3:00 p.m. EFY Speaker #1
4:00 p.m. EFY Speaker #2
5:00 p.m. Dinner (provided)
6:00 p.m. Concert
7:00 p.m. EFY Dance
10:00 p.m. Depart

What is a Best of EFY Counselor?

Best of EFY counselors are expected to be mature and responsible, watching out for the spiritual and physical safety of all youth in attendance at the Best of EFY program. Although they do not teach in a formal setting, they are expected to be an example at all times. Best of EFY counselors provide supervision during all activities. They act as a disciplinarian, a friend, and an example of gospel standards. The number one responsibility of Best of EFY counselors is to ensure the safety of all Best of EFY participants.

Qualifications:

• Temple Eligible
• Testimony of Restored Gospel
• Active in Ward/Stake
• College Experience
• Returned Missionary (males) or 21 years old
• Involved in Institute
• Patient
• Fun and Enthusiastic Personality
• Able to Motivate Youth

Best of EFY counselors are expected to arrive at 3:00 p.m. for a brief training session and remain on site until after all participants have left the dance at 11:00 p.m. A Best of EFY counselor shirt and dinner will be provided.

How do I become a volunteer Best of EFY counselor?

Simply print out and complete the application for your desired location including signing the gray box , and meet with your bishop. Your bishop then fills out and mails the completed form to CES Youth Programs (address listed on the application). Upon receiving your application, CES Youth Programs will contact you through email with further information.

Do I have to be a counselor for a week long EFY session in order to be a Best of EFY counselor?

No. Although we strongly encourage all past and potential EFY week long session counselors to help with Best of EFY, all interested, qualified applicants are encouraged to submit an application and volunteer. Best of EFY events require many counselors. We encourage all qualified to apply.
