Financial aid is available as of September 15, 2009, for individuals seeking to attend an Especially for Youth session. Since our funds are limited, we require all those seeking financial aid to fill out an application to help us determine those with the most pressing need. Please note that decisions will be made in late December 2009.
If you wish to apply for financial aid for more than one child, a separate application must be filled out for EACH child.
Apply for each child under a separate login name and password.
NOTE: Be sure to register for EFY under the same login name and password that you use to apply for financial aid to insure that your tuition assistance may be applied to the correct registration.
Both sections of the application must be completed before it will be reviewed.
When the application is completed and submitted electronically to our office, we will contact your bishop/branch president by mail. Please make sure the address entered for your bishop/branch president is correct. An incorrect address may greatly delay your application review.
After the bishop/branch president submits his information to us by fax or return mail, we will review your application. We cannot process your application until we hear back from the bishop. If your bishop/branch president changes after applying, please call our office to let us know.
If you are selected to receive financial aid, you will receive an e–mail to notify you of the amount offered.
A completed financial aid application does not "hold" a spot for you in a session. Also, the offer or acceptance of an award does not guarantee a spot in any EFY session. For this reason, we encourage you to complete and submit the application as soon as possible.
If you are granted financial aid before registering, your award will automatically be applied to the EFY session for which you register.
If you register for a session before your financial aid application has been fully processed, you will be required to pay the tuition in full at the time of registration. If you later receive an award, the amount of the award will be refunded to your credit card. Refunds take two to three weeks to process.

If you are not a member of the LDS church, please call our office at 801–422–3817, ext. 0, and we will walk you through the application process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who Receives Financial Aid?
We wish we could award aid to all who request it. Because of limited funds, we are unable to assist all who apply. Awards are based on an assessment of financial need as well as availability of funds.
Financial aid cannot be applied to EFY Stay–at–Home programs.
As an applicant, what information will I need to supply?
Your child’s name, address, phone information, and e–mail address(es)
Please also be sure that when you created a BYU Net ID, that it is under the child’s name and their date of birth. Putting any parent information will make the computer think they are ineligible to attend EFY or receive financial aid
Your bishop’s/branch president’s name, correct home address, and phone number (home and business/cell phone if applicable) so that we can contact him for an insight into your personal situation.
Family information, such as family income level and dependants living in the home (If your family has dependents outside the home, you may mention them in the comments portion, but the first number should only represent dependents currently at home.)
You may also have an opportunity to express any special circumstances that will help the committee make an award decision. Please be sure to fill out this section so that the committee can have a better understanding of your situation.
How long will it take before I know whether I received financial aid?
Decisions will not be made until after the holiday season. You will be notified by e–mail when a decision has been made.
Tips for Applying for Financial Aid
Be sure to give the bishop’s current address. If your bishop should change before you hear regarding financial aid, be sure to call our office so that we can write to the new bishop.
If you have not heard from us within four to six weeks after applying, please call our office to find out your application status.
Please notify your bishop that a letter will be coming to him from the EFY Office and to fax or mail it back to us as soon as possible.
We DO NOT accept e-mailed letters, nor do we e-mail or fax letters to bishops. Because we have so many applicants and we want to keep this as confidential as possible, mailing a letter to the bishop at his home helps us ensure that confidentiality.
We suggest that you call four to six weeks after applying to see whether we have heard from your bishop. When you register be sure to use the same login name that you used to apply for financial aid. This will ensure that your award, if granted, will be in the applicant’s account and that you will only have to pay the balance.
If you register first and later learn that you have received financial aid, you will need to call our office so that we can apply that funding to the session for which you have registered. The credit card used to pay EFY tuition will automatically be credited approximately two to three weeks after your award notification. If you have cancelled the card after paying for EFY and find that you are awarded tuition, please contact our office so that we can send the refund in a timely manner.
If you later find that you are unable to attend, or if financial circumstances change, please contact our office AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so that we can apply this award to another deserving youth.
