Director’s Welcome

W e are pleased to welcome you to our website and hope it provides you with helpful information about the BYU Salt Lake Center.

A s it is affectionately called, "The Center" has been a part of the Salt Lake Valley since 1959 as an extension of Brigham Young University, located in Provo, Utah. Our mission is to provide you with excellent academic experiences, high–quality service, and friendly support in an atmosphere that reflects the spirit of BYU and our sponsoring institution, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‐day Saints. We enjoy the unique opportunity and blessing of being located near Temple Square, in beautiful, state‐of‐the‐art educational facilities within the Triad Center, a part of the Church headquarters campus. We’re right in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City.

A s you can see from a tour of our website, we offer a wide variety of university‐level, credit‐bearing courses each semester to any individual agreeing to abide by the policies and procedures published on our website and in our printed bulletins. For your convenience, most of our courses meet only once or twice a week in the late afternoon and evening. Our class sizes are small, averaging 10–15 students per class. This provides you with a great deal of one‐on‐one access to instructors who are committed to providing you with the best learning environment possible.
