RUSS 51 — Second-Year Russian 1

Prerequisite:

RUSS 41 (First-Year Russian 1) and RUSS 43 (First-Year Russian 2) or equivalent.

Description

This is the third course in a four-part Russian series (RUSS 41, RUSS 43, RUSS 51, and RUSS 53). This course will finally help students become conversational in the most common topics; mainly, the weather, the different seasons in the year, how old you are, and what you want to be when you grow up. In this course students will be introduced to the dative case, which is used to talk about age. Students will also see the instrumental case again, so they can talk about what occupies their time and what they want to become. Finally, students will learn how to use every child's favorite two words, "why" and "because." There are also cultural highlights so students can learn more about Russia and the Russian people. 4 lessons, 4 assignment submissions (3 Speedback assignments, 1 instructor-graded assignment); proctored final exam.
