FREN 43 — First-Year French 2

Prerequisite:

FREN 41 (First-Year French 1) or equivalent.

Description

This is the second course in a four-part French series (FREN 41, FREN 43, FREN 51, and FREN 53). Students will learn basic conversations for a post office, in a pharmacy, and at a French dinner table. Vocabulary, including rooms, furniture, appliances, nature, animals, and vacations, will be taught. Several French-speaking regions will be highlighted. CDs will be provided so students can hear and master French pronunciation. 7 lessons, 7 assignment submissions (5 Speedback assignments, 2 instructor-graded assignments); proctored final exam.

Materials:

4 Audio CDs

Notes:

Students must have access to a CD player to listen to audio tracks. To turn in oral assignments they will need one of the following: 1) an MP3 recorder, player, and e-mail address; 2) a CD burner, CD player, and a blank CD; OR 3) a standard cassette recorder and a standard blank cassette tape (no minicassette tapes accepted). For the CD, no zipped or compressed files will be accepted. Accepted audio file formats are .cda, .wav, and .mp3. Having a French-speaking friend to practice with is helpful, but not necessary.
