ART 31 — Introduction to Art (Grades 7–8)

Description

ART 31 is a foundation course which includes the study of art history, art production, and art criticism. Students are introduced to several art movements and prominent artists, and discover how they continue to influence art today. Students also visually express themselves by applying learned production skills to various projects. 8 lessons, 8 assignment submissions (6 Speedback assignments, 2 instructor-graded portfolios); proctored final exam.

Notes:

Students must furnish basic art supplies: 8 ½" x 11" drawing paper, drawing pencils, a kneaded eraser, colored pencils, watercolor paint, and paintbrushes. These are relatively inexpensive materials, which can be found at any arts and crafts store.
