BYU is accredited as an institution by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). BYU Independent Study's High School program is accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NAAS) and the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC).

Our accreditation sources are reciprocal with other regional accreditation agencies, meaning that earned credits through Independent Study are generally transferable to other educational institutions.
