Auditions

Placement auditions are held on Monday from 8:00–11:00 a.m.

All instrumentalists should come well prepared with a solo or étude for the audition. Prepare something that you feel comfortable playing. Auditions will be four to eight minutes long (depending on the instrument), with some callbacks. Jazz auditions may include sight-reading and improvisation.

Pianists (including jazz pianists) should bring two pieces of an intermediate or higher level. One piece must be memorized and performance ready; the other should be in progress.

String participants should have one piece memorized and performance ready; a second should be in progress. String participants should also be prepared to play scales. Violinists must play a three-octave D-major scale.

Vocalists should come with two songs memorized and ready to perform.
