Dear Sisters:
I am pleased to welcome you to the 2012 BYU Women’s Conference, co-sponsored by the Relief Society.
The theme this year, “And They Were Armed with Righteousness and with the Power of God in Great
Glory,” is found in 1 Nephi 14:14. This section of the Book of Mormon records Nephi’s vision of our
day and time. He saw that the Saints of the Church of the Lamb were located in all parts of the world
though their numbers were few. And he also saw that their influence was great because they were
armed with righteousness and with the power of God.
We have had reaffirmed to us this year through the beautiful and inspired book, Daughters in My
Kingdom, that we have a “glorious heritage” as we “help strengthen families and build up the kingdom
of God on the earth.” We have been reminded that we are daughters of God and disciples of Christ,
blessed with eternal worth, gifts and abilities that are needed, like Esther of old, “for such a time as
this.”
Our hope is that as you participate in Women’s Conference this year that you will feel the Lord’s love for
you and His trust in you. We pray that you will find courage and hope in drawing closer to our Heavenly
Father and His Son and inviting their strength and direction into your lives. We hope that you will feel
encouraged in your faithful efforts and renewed in testimony. We are grateful for you and share with
you a desire to deepen our discipleship and charity.
I also encourage you to participate in our marvelous service event, “Sweet is the Work,” on Thursday
evening. Many are beginning preparations now so that these few hours can bring you an opportunity to
provide service, share creative ideas, and enjoy each other’s company. More details about the service
event are available on our web site.
We look forward to having you join us on campus and rejoice in the sisterhood we share.
Sandra Rogers, Chair
