49. Creaing a Support Team for Children and Families with MILD (Mental Illness or Learning Disabilities)

⇐ Previous Next ⇒

Exhibitor(s): Becky McLean Simmons, Ashley Porter

Description: Having a child or adolescent with severe mental illness or debilitating learning disability can take a large toll on parents, caregivers, and other family members. Creating a “Support Team” for these individuals can: ease their burdens, provide service opportunities for others, and build community awareness of these conditions. A strong Support Team enables a family to care for a child at home, when possible, and give the child growth opportunities not otherwise possible. Having loving and accepting respite care can enable both the family and the child to feel more hope, see more fully their divine nature, and know more deeply God’s love for them.
