(38) Reading the Book of Mormon Ties Families Together
Exhibitor(s): Tammy Howell
Description: President Hinckley’s August 2005 challenge to read the Book of
Mormon by the end of 2005 strengthened family ties throughout the church. Every family who wholeheartedly accepted this challenge felt the blessings our prophet promised. President Hinckley promised: “Without reservation I promise you that if each of you will observe this simple program, regardless of how many times you previously may have read the Book of Mormon, there will come into your lives and into your homes an added measure of the Spirit of the Lord, a strengthened resolution to walk in obedience to His commandments, and a stronger testimony of the living reality of the Son of God.” The quilt exhibited in this sharing station represents a few of the families whose ties were strengthened by reading the Book of Mormon. Each family made a quilt block symbolizing what they learned or how they implemented this challenge. The stories of each quilt block are included row by row on the handouts below. May these stories re-motivate you to strengthen your own Family Ties by continuing to Read the Book of Mormon on an ongoing basis.
