I heard about it from a friend. Exactly what is Women’s Conference?
The BYU Women’s Conference is a two-day conference for those 16 and older. We have general sessions where all participants meet together in the Marriott Center. We also have concurrent sessions, when you get to choose from 14 or 15 different sessions per hour. Topics include home, family, marriage, service, gospel topics (scripture/doctrine), and others such as missionary work and education—all discussed from a gospel perspective and directed toward women.

How many people attend BYU Women’s Conference?

I'm trying to register by phone but it's always busy and I always have to wait.
We recommend online registration as the quickest, most convenient method. You can even register in the late hours of the night when we are not in the office, and you never have to wait in line or on hold.

I can't afford to pay the fee. Do you have any “scholarships”?

Do I have to pay in full at the time of registration?
Yes. Sorry, but there is no deferred payment plan. Our system is not able to accommodate partial payments.

What is your refund procedure and deadline?

What is your refund procedure when you register for more than one person?
I collected the money from my friends and sent one check:
If you paid by check for you and your group, each individual person will receive a refund check (minus any processing fees). It will be your responsibility to contact them to get your money from them.

I collected the money from my friends and used my credit card:
If you paid by credit card, the entire refund will go back to the credit card used (minus any processing fees), and you will be responsible to contact the others to refund them individually.

I misplaced my name badge. How can I get a replacement?
Your name badge is your ticket to the conference and the evening activities. If you lose your badge or leave it at home, a duplicate may be obtained for $5 at the Marriott Center or Wilkinson Center Garden Court upon verification of registration. Duplicate name badges will not be mailed.

How do BYU students, faculty, staff, and spouses register?
You will be able to register at a discount. Registration is available by phone at (801) 422-8925, in person at the HCEB lobby (with your BYU ID) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and on the Internet (a special registration link for BYU students and employees will be e-mailed). The cost is $15 for the full conference or $8 for one day. The discount is only available to BYU ID cardholders, and you must give your ID card number upon registration. You can bring multiple cards in, but only the names on the cards will be put on the badges.

What if my faculty or student spouse does not have a BYU ID card?
Faculty spouses can obtain an ID card at the Benefits Office (D-240A ASB) at no cost. Student spouses can get an ID at the ID Center (2310 WSC). Cost is $5.00 for the card plus $2.50 to $5.00 for additional privileges. Making the effort to get a card is less expensive than paying the full price of the conference. ID Center hours are 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

I am a seminary teacher, CES administrator, retired BYU employee, student at another university, etc.  Do I get the discount?
Only current BYU students and current and retired BYU employees can get in at the discounted price if they have a current BYU ID (follow procedure above).

I’m disabled—can you accommodate me in the residence halls?
Yes, there are several rooms in on-campus housing that are accessible to individuals in wheelchairs. Because of the limited availability, if a disabled person is part of a group, we cannot guarantee that the whole group will be accommodated according to the special needs of that one person, only that the special-needs participant and her roommate will be accommodated in special facilities (i.e., first floor, close to bathroom, etc.). When registering for housing, please inform the registrar of any accommodations you may need. These accommodations are limited, so please contact us as soon as possible. If you have questions or special housing requests, please visit the campus accommodations Web site at www.byu.edu/confservices or call their office at (801) 422-5671.

Can I get housing if I have submitted a tuition waiver?
Tuition waivers cover the cost of conference tuition only, not housing, travel, food, or any other costs.  Tuition-waiver recipients will not be notified until after April 4. If you would like to guarantee yourself a space in housing, you will need to register and pay in full for the conference and housing. If and when your tuition waiver is granted, we will refund you the $40 conference fee.

When will I know where I’m staying?
Student Auxiliary Services will send you your room assignment by the second week of April. If you don’t receive it by April 23, call (801) 422-5671. The information they send you will specify where to check in when you arrive on campus.

I want campus housing but it is full. What should I do? Do you have a waiting list?
We do not keep a waiting list. You can keep checking the Web site to see if any spaces have opened (by people who have canceled). When a spot is open, you are welcome to register for it; if you have already registered for the conference and wish to add available housing, log back into your account on our registration system or call (801) 422-8925 with a credit card. Leftover spaces, if available, will be sold on Wednesday, April 30.

Miscellaneous

I want to be a hostess. How do I get the information?
We have made the hospitality teams part of our service component and have Project Leaders who create teams for each venue. If you would like to be considered as an alternate hostess, please e-mail your name, address, and phone number to womens_conference@byu.edu.

I want to be a speaker. How do I apply?
The conference does not have an official presenter application process. Presenters are invited by a committee in the fall. Presenters do not receive any compensation for speaking. Presenters for 2008 have already been selected.

How can I contact a presenter?
To protect the privacy of our presenters, we do not distribute their contact information to the public. You may, however, send a letter addressed in the following format, and we will be happy to forward it on to him/her:

(Name of Presenter)
c/o BYU Women's Conference
352 Harman Continuing Education Building
Provo, UT 84602

What should I wear?
Some participants prefer to dress up and wear dresses or skirts and blouses. Others prefer to be casual and wear slacks. The choice is yours, as long as you are within BYU dress standards. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended.

What will the weather be like?
Weather could still be rather cool during the conference. Average high temperature in May is 62 degrees F; average low is 37 degrees F. Come prepared for changeable weather and varying indoor room temperatures. You can find an online weather forecast at www.weather.com (use the zip code 84602).
