Instant Choir
Share your talents and testimony through song by participating in the 2008 BYU Women¿s Conference Instant Choir! Join together with friends, relatives, and those attending the conference with you! All conference participants who wish to join the choir are welcome.
This year’s Instant Choir conductor is Kathleen Kirk Lindsay. She says her greatest joy is her family (husband, five children, six grandchildren) and her second greatest joy is to bring people to Christ through music. Kathleen is a member of the Tabernacle Choir and Salt Lake Music Circle, a former school teacher, and has taught piano for over 25 years. A graduate of BYU, she has worked on a master’s degree in piano pedagogy and has done graduate work in choral conducting and Kodály training. She has enjoyed leading stake and ward choirs and musical productions over the years.
The Instant Choir will be singing “This is the Christ” by Michael F. Moody with words by President James E. Faust and Jan Pinborough. The second song is a beautiful new anthem, “Come unto Christ” written by Vanja Watkins with lyrics by Marvin Gardner. Watkins and Gardner are best known for their collaborative efforts in the well-known LDS hymn, “Press Forward, Saints” (#81). We are grateful for the orchestration provided by Jerry Jackman, and performed by members of the BYU Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras, with Annette Horman at the piano.

We hope that you will practice these two songs at home and come prepared for our one practice at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 1. After you enter the Marriott Center, go to Portal C and sit in Section 3. Following the rehearsal, choir members will keep their same seats as they prepare to sing in the opening session. If you come with non-choir participating friends, encourage them to sit in regular seats near you but not occupy seats in the choir section.
