On this DVD video a menu will allow you to select segments to view from Voices of Promise or the entire film. It is highly recommend that this film be viewed in seven lessons outlined on the Student Teacher Information section. The first lesson presents a 19 minute version of Voices of Promise. Then each of the following six lessons shows an expanded additional segment dealing with each of the film's six topics. Or, alternatively, the full expanded version of the film may be viewed itself.
These concise lesson outlines are easy and convenient for you, the teacher, or the facilitator to use. Each lesson is designed to run from 20 minutes to nearly an hour in length, depending on how deeply you would like to explore each topic and the time available. The format is "Voices," "Choices," "and "Results." Each lesson begins with a segment of this DVD video, the "Voices." After that, "Choices" allows you to conduct guided discussion of the topic. You may ask the students several application questions to prompt classroom dialogue, self-expression, application of principals, and positive visualization. The lesson should conclude with "Results," in which you have each student write down the results on each topic they choose for themselves. At your discretion, this can range from a few simple sentences to assignments for essays, projects, or research papers.
Active discussion of these questions will help students step back and look at their own situations through different eyes. Your guidance will help the students grasp these concepts, see how they apply to them, make plans for their use, and carry them through to completion. As you use this DVD video and lesson outline in this way, lives will be significantly changed for the better.
