BYU Winter Baseball Academy 2007

This winter the BYU Baseball Academy will offer two elite baseball clinics and a general skills “Christmas” camp. All winter clinics will be held in BYU's state-of-the-art Indoor Practice Facility.

Elite Showcase Clinics
This is a great way to get exposed to the BYU coaching staff and gain real-time experience in a competitive and challenging environment. The elite camps are designed to provide players with advanced training and are generally for players looking for an intense baseball learning environment.

Elite Hitting Clinic
Ages 14–18: Dec. 14, 8:00–10:00 p.m.; Dec. 15, 10:00 a.m.–noon
Ages 9–13: Dec. 14, 6:00–8:00 p.m.; Dec. 15, 8:00–10:00 a.m.
Come to the campus of Brigham Young University and enjoy one of the best indoor practice facilities in the country. You will learn how the current BYU baseball team prepares for competition in the spring. The hitting philosophy of Head Coach Vance Law has produced outstanding results over his career at BYU. The camp is designed for serious ball players looking to push their game to a higher level. The information given at camp is the same information given to current players at BYU. Special attention will be given to the swing set-up, barrel position, bat path consistency, contact position, extension, and finish. Also, various drills will be described so hitters can practice those learned at camp. All players will have the opportunity to communicate with current coaches, staff, and team members to help learn new skills.
Cost: $59

Elite Pitching and Catching Clinic
Ages 14–18: Dec. 14, 6:00–8:00 p.m.; Dec. 15, 8:00–10:00 a.m.
Ages 9 –13: Dec. 14, 8:00–10:00 p.m.; Dec. 15, 10:00 a.m.–noon
Come to the pitching / catching session if you are interested in learning more about having a consistent delivery, improving strength, and employing proper mechanics while giving catchers opportunities to adjust their performance behind the dish in a real-time workout. Under Coach Bobby Applegate’s direction, BYU pitchers set the all-time Mountain West Conference pitching standard with the lowest ERA ever. Campers will have the opportunity to be evaluated and coached by the current staff at BYU. Pitchers will go through the pitching delivery and learn the way current BYU players are coached. Pitchers will learn strength and conditioning techniques and have the opportunity to throw bull pens, learn warmup techniques, and learn shoulder and upper body strength development. Catchers will be coached in advanced catching and receiving philosophies. The catchers will receive instruction on their set-up and receiving stance and throwing stance; their footwork and throwing motion will be analyzed.
Cost: $59

Elite Combo Cost (Register for both the Hitting and Pitching clinic): $109
