Enjoy five days of training in hitting, pitching, catching, batting stance, base running, fielding, sliding, bunting, double plays, and throwing mechanics. Learn sound fundamentals through demonstrations, practice drills, and competitions at BYU’s softball stadium.

Under the direction of Gordon Eakin, learn the basics of offensive and defensive strategies as you train position by position. Participate in exciting intra-squad games that will provide a firsthand experience in team tactics and increase individual skills. Teams are formed according to participants’ age and skill levels.

While at the camp, you will have the opportunity to use BYU’s professional athletic equipment and unique training stations. You will also learn the essentials of weight and strength conditioning to boost your individual training sessions.

Take the opportunity to gain instruction from Coach Eakin and his assistant coaches for an exciting week of softball training!

Director

Gordon Eakin enters his sixth season as head coach of BYU softball. Last season, he led the Cougars to a Mountain West Conference win with a 43-22 record and their third consecutive berth to the NCAA Regional. Currently, Eakin has a .688 winning percentage at BYU, tallying just over 200 wins. With Eakin coaching, the Cougars have posted great offensive numbers. Last season, BYU ranked 11th in the nation in team hitting with a .314 mark, and the Cougars ranked second in home runs per game with two per game. The Cougars had one batter hit over .400 and seven eclipse the .300 mark for the season.

Eakin has worked as an assistant to the team since the program's inception in 2000, including the team that won the 2001 Mountain West Conference in its second year in existence. He was largely responsible for coaching hitting and recruiting incoming freshmen and transfer students.

Eakin brings to BYU vast experience in both baseball and softball. He played three years of baseball at the University of Utah before signing with the Oakland Athletics organization, where he played for three years.
