Summer Scholars can best be summarized by a comment from a past participant. “Summer Scholars is all about college life . . . it’s about eating in the cafeterias, stopping by the bookstore, group discussions in class, an afternoon study group, and hanging out with great friends. Summer Scholars showed me that college is going to be one great experience.”
Summer Scholars is a preview of college life at BYU, and as a student, you will attend one core class of your choice and will have access to other workshops that increase your skills in essay writing, stress management, and survival study techniques. You also have a chance to meet with admissions officers and talk to them about applying to BYU.
To make your stay a true BYU experience, we include amazing devotionals, a fireside, scripture study with your counselors, and faith-building discussions with your faculty. Past participants and counselors have told us that these late-night informal discussions on faith have been some of the best parts of Summer Scholars.
Summer Scholars is also about having fun! Superior classes are the standard, but we know that fun activities and great friends are what it’s all about. So we’ve planned some great events that may include an evening at Seven Peaks Water Park, a visit to Salt Lake City's Temple Square, dances, closing banquet (yes, you do have to dress up at least once this week), and a closing party.
Summer Scholars places you at a university that receives national recognition for its strong undergraduate and graduate programs and its high-quality teaching. So don't miss it!
