InterMuse Choral Camp

Elementary and Middle School Students: Do you love to sing in the school choir? Come join a group of fine young musicians for a weeklong choral camp at BYU! Develop vocal techniques, music literacy, and musical sensitivity to fine choral literature while combining a sense of teamwork, friendship, and summer fun!

Dates: June 11–15, 2012 (Monday to Friday), 1:00–4:00 p.m.

Place: TBA, Brigham Young University campus

Open to children ages 9–13 who have completed fourth through seventh grades and boys with unchanged voices. All attendees must have been in a Kodály choir for at least a year.

HOW TO REGISTER

There are three convenient ways to register:

    8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time on weekdays, excluding holidays.

The registration fee of $80 covers tuition and music. Enrollment is limited—please register by June 1, 2012. Walk-on registration will be available June 11 from noon to 1:00 p.m., third-floor lobby of the J. Reuben Clark Law School. A signed waiver form is required for all students.

SCHOLARSHIPS

A limited number of scholarships will be available based on financial need and teacher recommendation.
Scholarship Application Forms must be received by May 7, 2012.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

Until May 21, you can go online and withdraw yourself from the program with no processing fee. After May 21, refund requests must be submitted in writing and a processing of $25 will be charged for each cancellation. TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

1:00–1:30 p.m.                Warm-up and welcome
1:30–2:30 p.m.                Rehearsal
2:30–3:00 p.m.                Break with activities and snacks
3:00–3:45 p.m.                Rehearsal
3:45–4:00 p.m.                Wrap-up activity

On Friday, the schedule will be slightly modified due to our concert rehearsals. Parents will receive a flyer with details on the first day of class.

CHECK-IN

Check in beginning at noon on Monday, June 11 at BYU (exact location will be e-mailed to you) to receive your packet and music. Bring bottled water with you!

FINAL PERFORMANCE

A final performance will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 15. The children will perform alongside the BYU InterMuse Academy Choir! Location is the Provo Central Stake Center, 500 North 1200 West.

PARKING

Short-term parking for parents is available in the visitors’ lot south of the Law School. Parents will be responsible to provide daily transportation to and from Choral Camp, including a rehearsal and evening concert on Friday, June 15.

DRESS

Most participants prefer to dress casually in slacks (including jeans) and comfortable shoes. The only “dress up” event is the final concert on Friday evening. Choice of clothing is yours, as long as you are within BYU dress standards (clothing must be modest in fabric, fit, style, and length). Shorts, if worn, must be knee length.
