Announcing the 2008 ID+SCORM Symposium
February 21–22, 2008
BYU Conference Center, Provo Utah
Purpose: Digital technology is increasingly visible in schools, homes, and the workplace. As yet, technology for learning has not yet achieved the broad impact anticipated by some. This accentuates an obvious gap between powerful hardware and operating systems and the realities of online learning in today’s world.
While the SCORM 2004 specification addresses many of the past objections that have been levied by some instructional designers, questions still remain. Some experts maintain that it is important to implement an improved student performance data model that goes beyond current capabilities for tracking learner performance. Such improvements would not only inject a feedback component for materials improvement into the materials development and delivery process, but they would also improve possibilities for conducting design-based research.
