An Introduction to Space, Time, and Relativity
J. Ward Moody, Physics

The basic ideas of space and time can - and should - be understood by anyone who wants to. Still, most people believe that the explanations of them are incomprehensible. We will debunk this myth while remaining faithful to Einstein’s admonition that theories be explained “as simply as possible, but no simpler.”

My goals for this course are that every student:

  1. Understand the philosophical basis of space and time
  2. Understand the philosophical basis of the Special Theory of Relativity
  3. Understand the general ideas and predictions of the General Theory of Relativity
  4. Be familiar with the observational aspects of space at its farthest reaches and most extreme manifestations.
