BYU Department of Health Science, College of Life Sciences
The Department of Health Science prepares and mentors students to be public or school health professionals who effectively promote health by planning, implementing, and evaluating health interventions related to leading or underlying causes of morbidity and mortality among individuals, families, and at-risk populations in global settings.

BYU’s Melvin J. Ballard Center and Social Innovation Leadership Council (SILC)
The Melvin J. Ballard Center focuses on social innovation, the ecosystem whereby new and innovative solutions to our global society’s greatest problems are discovered and implemented. The Ballard Center is an academic center that interacts with students, faculty, and practitioners to search for pattern-breaking social innovations that address some of today’s most vexing social problems.
The Social Innovation Leadership Council (SILC) is a council comprised of BYU organizations that are seeking to solve social problems. The main purpose of the Council is to allow socially innovative organizations to communicate and collaborate with one another to increase social impact. SILC also seeks to help students connect to these organizations and to provide resources to help students make a difference.

BYU’s Kennedy Center for International Studies–International Development Minor
The International Development minor is an interdisciplinary program supported by the interest and commitment of faculty and staff from many departments and centers on BYU’s campus. The field of international development is a multidisciplinary effort aimed at improving people’s lives locally and internationally. Development work occurs in many sectors, including foreign aid, education, economic development, public health, sustainable agriculture, appropriate technology, community development, gender equality, microfinance, disaster preparedness, human rights, environmental protection, food security, and poverty reduction.

Utah County Health Department
The mission of the Utah County Health Department is to promote health and prevent avoidable disease and injury by monitoring the health of our community, and assuring conditions in which people can be healthy. Its vision is centered on “Healthy People in Healthy Communities.”
