The Global Family Health and Development Conference is a one-day symposium that brings to the forefront of the discussions the major health needs and issues that compromise the health, future, and lives not only of mothers and children but also of the family. The morning plenary session features national experts in global health issues. The afternoon panel discussions feature both morning plenary speakers and selected local, state, or national experts in panel discussions of the research findings, best practices, and lessons learned in the field.
Our circle of friends and partners has expanded this year. In 2012, we are joined by the Melvin J. Ballard Center for Economic Self-Reliance of the BYU Marriott School and by the Kennedy Center International Development Minor. These university partners join us in our aim of improving health and lives. They add not only depth to the ensuing discussions, but also a more comprehensive view of addressing today’s health issues and social problems in both domestic and international settings. They bring the added perspectives of tackling problems through social innovation and a multi-disciplinary approach directed at various facets of societal issues: education, economic development, public health, sustainable agriculture, appropriate technology, community development, gender equality, microfinance, disaster preparedness, human rights, environmental protection, food security, and poverty reduction.
Who Should Attend?
Students, faculty, professionals, practitioners, agencies, and community members are invited to attend. This conference brings together the university community, medical and health sectors, and government and nongovernment agencies.
