Course Description
This Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Training Course is designed to prepare and qualify a student to take the Utah EMT Basic written and practical tests for certification as an EMT-B. After successful completion of the EMT-B training course, the student will be capable of performing the following functions at the minimum entry level:
The EMT-Basic course is a minimum of 120 hours in length. There are 46 lessons in the core curriculum that has been developed by Utah Bureau of EMS and the U.S. DOT. In addition to the required 120-124 hours of instruction, this course requires that the student have patient interactions in a clinical setting. Automated external defibrillation for CPR, patient-assisted medications, sufficient information in hazardous materials to comply with worker protection standards, and special skills in communications have been revised or added to the curriculum that is required by the Utah Bureau of EMS.

Fee includes: Health Care Provider CPR Certification, text books, handouts, miscellaneous training supplies, Utah State Bureau of Emergency Medical Services testing and certification. (BYU credit is not offered)
OPTIONAL-$22 Stethoscope & Blood Pressure Cuff. Each participant must have a stethoscope and blood pressure cuff. You purchase this or provide your own.

Requirements
All students MUST have a stethoscope and blood pressure cuff for this course. This may be purchased at the time of registration for $22. All students are required to be CPR certified at the health-care provider level as part of this course. CPR certification will occur the first two nights of class. A state application and background check, including fingerprinting, is required. All participants must be 18 years old within 90 days of the end of the course
Refund Policy - NON REFUNDABLE AFTER 4:00 p.m. JANUARY 7, 2008
Refunds minus a $10 processing fee may be granted until 4:00 p.m. January 7, 2008. Due to the fact that the registration and exam fee for each student must be sent to the Utah Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (BEMS) along with other documentation in the first week of the course, NO REFUNDS are possible after January 7, 2008. If you are unable to attend for any reason after this date your course fee is forfeited. There will be no refunds for books and equipment as these costs are included in the course fee.
