Dear friend,
As president of the Academy of LDS Dentists, I would like to personally invite you to join our organization. Under the leadership of Dr. Gordon Christensen, the Academy was organized 30 years ago, in 1987. Following is the threefold purpose of the Academy.
Education: This is provided at the annual conference, through our newsletters, and on our Web site. Under Dr. Gordon Christensens direction, the Academy of LDS Dentists features world-class dental speakers at their annual conference in August for dentists and their staffs as well as motivational speakers for their spouses. Equally fulfilling youth programs are also provided. Those attending this meeting receive 12 hours credit toward postgraduate education requirements. Our quarterly newsletters also inform members about the Academy. Our Web site, academyofldsdentists.com is another means of communication. The Academy awards numerous scholarships each year to worthy dental and dental hygiene students to assist them in gaining their education.
Service: Service provides great spiritual experiences as we assist others. Service is the bond that holds the Academy together. The Academy provides wide-ranging opportunities for service throughout the world and is truly becoming an international organization. Our Web site includes information about service projects sponsored by the Academy and by other sponsoring groups for your review. Remember the passage from Mosiah: When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God. We truly have been blessed by our Heavenly Father, and it is only proper that we in turn bless the lives of others who are less fortunate through the service that we render. Although we work independently of the Church, much of what we do reflects favorably on it and through our service as Academy members, we help the programs of the Church move forward.
Fellowship: Membership in the Academy offers opportunities to make or renew friendships with other dentists, classmates from dental school, fellow volunteers on service projects, and others. As we participate in service projects, we develop a strong bond with our fellow volunteers as well as with those whom we serve. Volunteers look forward to next years service project to reconnect with each other.
We have been blessed with great Academy leaders who have had a vision of what can be accomplished as we work together. Truly, the field is white, ready for harvest. As the president of this wonderful organization, I invite you to join with us. We have all been blessed with many talents and as we share our talents, with others, we also are truly enlarged. Membership in the Academy will provide many new opportunities for you to share your talents.
Dr. Gordon Christensen and JTV Productions have joined together to produce a DVD that reviews the service projects and activities of the Academy. You can view this DVD online. You can pay your membership dues by registering directly on this website or sending in the Membership Application Form. You should first print yourself a copy of the form, then fill out the questions on the form, and send it to the address listed. The information you include on the form will be placed in a computerized database so you can be notified of upcoming service projects and other events. The Academy needs your help in order for it to move forward. May God bless you in all your righteous endeavors. We love you and look forward to working and serving with you.
Sincerely,
Albert Clark
