Beginning–Advanced
Registration for Adult Ballroom Dance Camp begins on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at 9:00 a.m. MT.
Whether you’re just a beginner or a seasoned veteran in dancing, BYU’s Adult Ballroom Dance Camp has something to interest you. In its 27th year, this exciting camp offers the best in both International and American styles of ballroom dancing. Each day of camp provides up to seven hours of dance instruction with world-renowned professional instructors. This memorable weeklong camp also includes a banquet, awards ceremony, camp dance, and closing showcase in which each participant performs what he/she has learned!
During free time, enjoy exploring the beautiful BYU campus, which offers three museums. Take advantage of the recreational facilities (small additional fee required), including an indoor pool, track, and weight room.

Directors
Lee and Linda Wakefield, artistic directors of the BYU Ballroom Dance Company, head the BYU Adult Ballroom Dance Camp. They are 18-time winners of the British Formation championships and are 2-time United States Professional Theatre Arts champions. Lee and Linda have directed the camp since 1981. Their experience has enabled them to provide participants with the maximum opportunity to learn and enjoy ballroom dancing during the five-day workshop.
Housing
Unfortunately, due to continued construction, we are unable to provide on-campus housing this summer for the adult ballroom camp. Please see our off-campus housing options below for other accommodations.
Food, Optional $70
A pocket-size meal ticket will be issued to those who wish to have quick access to meals on campus. The ticket may be used at the Cannon Center cafeteria, the Cougareat, the Creamery, and various snack bars on campus, as well as the vending machines. The balance on the meal ticket decreases by the amount of purchase. No refunds will be given on any remaining balances.
Off-Campus Housing
We have arranged with some local hotels for rooms to be reserved at a special conference rate. Below is a table of hotels, rates, and a link to their Web sites. When calling to make arrangements, please let them know that you are with the BYU Adult Ballroom Camp and they will give you this conference rate as long as they have rooms available.

Shuttle/Parking Passes
We are aware this has been a great concern for many of you. We have done our best to secure spots for camp participants as close as possible to the Wilkinson Student Center, where the classes are held. Due to campus construction projects, our visitor parking options are very limited. Here are a few options:

Airport-to-Campus Transportation
Brigham Young University is located in Provo, Utah, approximately 50 miles south of the Salt Lake International Airport. BYU can be reached from the north or south via Interstate 15, taking exit #272 (University Parkway). A shuttle service is available for transportation from the airport to the participant’s destination. For details on this service, please contact Express Shuttle at 1-800-397-0773.
Credit, Optional, $75
One semester hour of Dance 500R college credit is offered. Participants must declare their intent to register for credit at the time of registration and must have a high school diploma to receive credit. In addition to attending classes, those registered for credit must submit an essay on a topic to be announced. The program directors will provide information for 500R requirements on the first day of camp at the orientation meeting.
Instructional DVD*, Optional, $199
A DVD containing instruction by the professionals will be available to camp participants only. The material contained in the DVD is the same as the material taught in the classes throughout the week. Please note that these DVDs are copy protected with macrovision and cannot be duplicated. Order forms will be available at the camp.

Private Lessons, Optional $95
Participants may request private lessons from the professional instructors of their choice. You must have a partner to assist you with your lesson or make arrangements with Linda Wakefield for a partner. Lessons are coordinated through Linda Wakefield at (801) 225-5857 or e-mail linda_wakefield@byu.edu. Please contact Linda only after you have received a confirmed spot in the camp. Please do not include private lesson payments with your camp tuition.

9 hours of instruction, multiple choices per hour of additional classes at various levels.
West Coast Swing & Salsa, as well as some of the remaining American Rhythm & Smooth dances.
Additionally, some of the remaining International Style dances will be chosen for the "Your Pick" classes.
