Sample Acts of Kindness:

Notes of Appreciation and Encouragement:  Keep a few cards in your purse or

scriptures so you can express yourself when your ideas are fresh.

Floral Bouquet to Share:  Cut off the tops of plastic juice bottles and use the bottom

part of the container for a floral arrangement.  Crisscross scotch tape across the top of the container to hold the flowers in place.  Make sure the container is dry before you tape so it sticks to the plastic, then add water.  I use flowers, herbs, shrubbery, evergreens, and look through my garden for inspiration.  Clean stems of leaves that will be under water, and cut ends on a slant.

Small Impromptu Gifts that are Meaningful:  My adult son once stopped by to say

hello and brought dessert from my favorite restaurant.  Boy was I surprised!   My sister is a wonderful seamstress, so I surprised her with a sewing tool she didn’t have and wanted.

Taking Pictures to Share:  My daughter likes to take pictures, so she makes

Doubles and shares the copies.

Embroider a pillow or sachet for yourself and a friend:  My daughter and I like to embroider.  We find it very relaxing and a gift of handwork is usually cherished.

2.      Cut a rectangle of fabric that measures 8” x 11”.  Fold fabric in half then in half again.  Transfer pattern onto bottom quarter of rectangle1” from bottom edge and 2-1/4” from side edge on right side of fabric.

3.      Stitch around edge of fabric to prevent stretching , or tape the edges.

4.      Using an embroidery hoop, embroider pattern in colors you like using outline stick and satin stitch.

5.      Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch down the long open side and one short side, using a ½” seam allowance.

6.      Fold the top of the bag about halfway down over the bag itself and iron.  (This piece will stay tucked into the bag when turned right side out.)

7.      Turn the bag right side out and fill it 2/3 full with potpourri mixture or batting with a few drops of perfume.

8.      Tie the bag with an 18” length of ¼” or ½” wide ribbon, making a double knot and then a bow.
