Gift Ideas:

!    While doing family history, I discovered that each of our five children and nineteen grandchildren were born on, or within days of a direct ancestor’s birthday.  I compiled a history of the birthday ancestor and focused on their talents and attributes.  Our children and grandchildren will have an opportunity to emulate these qualities in their lives.  An appropriate scripture was selected and framed.

Example:  A granddaughter, born near her great grandmother’s

birthday, was given a family cookbook.  The great-grandmother is known for her culinary arts and wonderful meals.  The teenaged granddaughter has becoe a good cook using these family recipes.  She is a great help to her mother.  The birthday gifts given to this granddaughter were the history of her great grandmother, the family cookbook and a framed scripture:  Proverbs 31:10, “Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies.”

!    Another family history gift is in process for 2002.  Each grandchild will receive a picture story about him/herself identifying unique qualities and hobbies.  Their birthday gift will include a personalized storybook and an under-the-bed box filled with heirlooms and mementos from grandpa and grandma.
