Title: “Easter Camp”
Exhibitor: Bunny Haycock
Description: Organize a family camp held each year at Easter time. An
inexpensive, consistent, traditional, and fun time for all ages. Families bond, children are recognized at a campfire meeting, songs are sung, games are played, and there are horse-back and dune-buggy rides. Older children share with the younger, and the younger grow up sharing with the next generation to keep the tradition alive. Trophies are given where everyone wins something. Skits are performed, everyone works together, everyone helps, everyone plays. A religious spotlight is held on the final night that is simple, thought provoking, and filled with love.
How To’s:
Organization Tips
§ Make a plan – yearly event, same place, same time, same weekend (i.e., second weekend of April)
§ Ask for help – involve as many people as possible.
§ Make sure everyone is informed – provide all members with a mailing list.
§ Make it affordable – keep it spontaneous, homemade fun.
§ Keep a scrapbook of past events and bring it to camp to reminisce over.
§ Ice breakers - if you need to get reacquainted.
§ Have a theme – Easter Camp has a built in theme.
§ Games that involve all ages – egg toss, three-legged races, sack relays, balloon tag, and baseball where half of each team are kids (and little kids are never out!)
§ Potluck dinners – food is social!
§ Awards that recognize everyone – Be creative with awards for youngest, oldest, most helpful, messiest, best sport, most creative, & who came the farthest. Make them simple and affordable by recycling trophies found at the Deseret Industries.
§ Bury a time capsule.
§ Leave free time for visiting.
