Description:                              Looking for a unique way to show your spouse you love

him – make him “King for a Day!”  Display signs that proclaim him “King for a Day” and put them in the yard or around the house.   Get a red carpet for him to walk on as he comes out of the bedroom at the beginning of the day.  Present him with a scepter (TV remote taped to a stick with a ribbon) to reign over his kingdom.   Play his favorite music; make his favorite foods.   Remember, “They do not love, that do not show their love.”  This idea could be used on a special occasions (Father’s day, birthday, anniversary…) or it could be used on any day just to remind your husband how much you love him.

How To’s:                                  “King for a Day” Activities

“King for a Day” Activities:

The day should begin with some kind of official declaration, whether you wake him in the morning with tape recorded trumpets heralding the morning or you serve him breakfast in bed, you want to make sure he knows that today is his day.  An official coronation when he is crowned can begin at the breakfast table, or as the family reads morning scriptures.

Here are some “official” sounding declarations that could be used throughout the day to remind him of his privileges for the day.

1.                  Let it be written, let it be said…Our King shall eat his breakfast in bed.  This can be placed on a note that comes on the tray when you serve him breakfast in bed, or verbally declared as you bring him the tray.

2.                  As it is written, so ‘twill it be done…This Saturday our king shall have nothing but fun!”  This can be displayed on a sign somewhere creative, in the shower perhaps?

3.                  To all his subjects, we loudly proclaim…‘This Saturday our King shall watch the big game.   This can be written on a card that is attached to the TV remote control.  This is especially appreciated on a Saturday when mom would prefer to give dad a “honey-do” list).

4.                  Let it be known all over town…This great King of mine deserves a rub down.  This could accompany a bottle of massage lotion, foot scrub, or anything else.

5.                  Because our king is kind and good…This day he shall feast on all his favorite food.  Prepare all of his favorites, or place a stash of them by the easy hair for him to enjoy as he watches that big game.

Get as creative as you want with this.  Make dad a paper crown for him to wear throughout the day…. It is especially effective for him to keep it for later.   If you give it to him at the end of the day and tell him that any time he needs a little more attention, respect, or adoration, all he needs to do is place it on his head to remind the family who is the king!

Kids can also get in on the fun by offering to wash the king’s chariot, polish his armor (shoes), or even do their best to entertain him as the court jesters.    Be fun and just remember…A King will usually do a better job of treating his wife like the queen that she is when he is reminded of his royal character.
