& Quick Knitted Dishcloth Pattern:
Supplies: Lily’s Sugar & Cream Cotton Yarn

This is an old pattern that has been passed around for years. It is great for beginners and a favorite of many. For variation, use a contrasting color when you work the 2nd (decrease) half.
Instructions: Cast on 5 sts*
K 2, yo, K rest of row
Repeat this row until 45-50 sts on needle (or half desired size).
Start decreases.
K 1, K 2 tog, yo, K 2 tog, K rest of row

Supplies: 16 inch circular & DP needles size #6 or #7
“Bernat” cottontots yarn or any cotton yarn (I like the variegated pastel
colors.)
Sizes: 6 months, 1 year or 2 years
On circular needles cast on 72, 80, or 88 stitches depending on size.
Place marker (a small safety pin works well) and join together by knitting first st being careful not to twist.
Knit in the round evenly till hat measures 4 ½”, 4 ¾”, or 5” depending on size.
To decrease and knit top of hat:
K2tog, K6, rep around
Next row: K2tog, K5, rep around
Next row: K2tog, K4, rep around
Next row: K2tog, K3, rep around
Next row: K2tog, K2, rep around
Transfer to 6 DP (straight needles) when circular needle is too tight to knit.
Repeat this decrease progression until 18 stitches are left
Then K2 tog around until 9 stitches are left.
Cut a tail of yarn and pull through remaining stitches to tie and bind off.
For a variation, you can make a ribbed hat by K2, Purl 2 until the hat measures desired size. To finish off:
K2, P2 tog 1st row
K2, P1 2 more rows
K2 tog P1 4 rows
K1, P1 2 or 3 more rows
Cut yarn and finish same as above. A pom-pom may be added.

Crocheted
Flannel Baby Blankets:
Supplies: 1 yard each of flannel fabric (1 print and 1 solid or checked)
Crochet yarn
Size 9 or 10 crochet hook
Wing needle to fit your sewing machine
Put wrong sides of fabric together. Smooth out all wrinkles in fabric. Square off by bringing one raw edge to a salvage edge to form a triangle and cut excess fabric making a square. Extra fabric can be used to make a “burpie” shaped like a figure “8.” With wing needle and top thread tension as tight as possible, zig-zag ¼ inch away from edge. Stitches should be about 1/8-1/4 inch apart. Experiment to see what you like the best. Trim fabric to top of zig-zag, being careful not to cut stitch. Crochet around edge in bottom of zig-zag. For a crib-size blanket use 45 inches of flannel and do not square off. Just trim edges to match.
Running Slip Stitch: Row 1: Put your crochet hook through the first hole (without the
thread attached). Then attach the thread, pull a loop through the first, then go through the next hole and catch the thread. Ss through the first loop. Move to the next hole and continue ss through each hemstitching hole. Finish off.
