Exhibitor:                                  Jenni Morris

Description:                              Preparing Family Home Evening packets is fun when done with a

group of friends.    Each of 10-15 friends picks a topic and makes a packet for each member of the group.  Packets include everything needed to conduct a productive and meaningful family home evening (song, scripture, lesson, activity, treat).  The group can set a meeting time every three months to take home 15 new FHE ideas.

What to Do:

1.                  Organize a group 8-15 friends, neighbors, etc., who are dependable and want to participate in making and receiving quality Family Home Evening packets that will last!  You probably should explain that the cost varies from $20-$50, depending on how elaborate your packet is.

2.                  Everyone picks a different topic to do.

3.                  Have one person be in charge of each meeting and rotate that responsibility.   This person is responsible for sending out a letter one month in advance to everyone in the group.   This letter should remind everyone of their topic., and set a time and date to meet and exchange packets.  This person hosts the meeting in their home (usually) and would provide a treat too.

4.                  Plan plenty of time to get your packet done!  The coloring, copying, cutting out and laminating taker longer than you think.  Make the number of packets needed and make sure to follow all of the requirements.

5.                  Go to the “Exchange Party” and enjoy!  We all sit in a circle and show our packet one at a time so everyone can see it.   This is also a fun night to socialize with friends and eat treats.   If you can’t make it to the party, just make sure to get your packets there beforehand.

6.                  Take home you new packets and use them for great Family Home Evenings with your family.

Packet Contents:

  1. Family Home Evening packets must contain song, scripture, lesson, game and treat.

  1. The entire packet should go in a 10”x 13” clasp envelope with the name of the lesson on the top of the outside.

  1. Any copies of games, pictures, etc, must be on cardstock and laminated!  The cardstock can be white or colored, and you may do any coloring with markers or crayons.  It must then be laminated to preserve and protect the paper.

  1. You must also enclose a black and white original of the lesson and ideas so if we want to make more copies in the future we have the original to do so.

  1. Any material to be used (i.e., string, buttons, Popsicle sticks) that can be enclosed in the folder should be included so that whole packet is ready to open and use.  If there are materials that cannot be put in the folder (i.e., a tennis shoe, a glass of water, food) a list should be made on the outside of the folder of the materials needed to be added for the packet to be complete.
