Family History and Genealogy programs include a new Conference on Computerized Family History & Genealogy as well as the annual Conference on Family History & Genealogy, offering eight different genealogy tracks. Faculty consists of professionals from the Family History Library, BYU, and several genealogical organizations.
Conference on Family History & Genealogy Date: July 27–30, 2010 Theme: Strengthening Ties That Bind Families Together Forever The 42nd Conference on Family History and Genealogy will offer more than 100 classes, allowing participants to gain new skills and helpful information. Class topics include Beginning Family History, FamilySearch, Writing the Narrative Family History, Using Computers, Internet and Technology, Basic Research Methodologies, Using the BYU Harold B. Lee Library, Research in the United States and Canada, Colonial America, International Research, Methodology, British Research, and Tips for Professional Genealogists. Conference on Computerized Family History & Genealogy Date: April 26–27, 2010 Theme: Building a Lasting Legacy The Thirteenth Annual Conference on Computerized Genealogy and Family History will be Monday April 26, and Tuesday April 27, 2010. The Technology Conference for program developers will be offered at an additional cost on Wednesday April 28. Vendors will be available throughout the conference and will demonstrate products on Friday evening following the general classes. Last year, more than 600 participants attended this conference learning how new programs can simplify and enhance research. Topics at this year’s conference will include more than 50 classes emphasizing improvements in genealogy software as well as managing genealogical databases and finding useful tools on the Internet. Some of our participants summed up their experience at the last conference by saying, “I learned everything I hoped to learn,” and “I’m, full of new ideas, enthusiasm, and new skills, ready to get to work when I get home!” This conference is sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Family History Department, FamilySearch, BYU History Department, BYU Center for Family History, and BYU’s Division of Continuing Education.
