Approximately 50,000 children’s books have been published in this past decade, and even the most voracious reader can’t possibly read them all and determine their potential use in a classroom setting. The purpose of this workshop is to identify and examine the best of the books written for children and to explore various techniques in bringing books and children together. The first day of this two-day workshop will address award-winning titles (Caldecott, Newbery, Siebert, etc.). The second day will focus on the “best of the rest,” including picture books, fiction, poetry, and informational books.
