Provo, Utah Welcomes IBA 2013
Come join us at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains, which will be in full fall colors for the 22nd International Conference on Bear Research and Management, 15–20 September 2013. Papers and posters dealing with the biology, management, and conservation of the world’s eight species of bears will be presented.
The overriding theme for the conference is “Bears in Winter.” Papers dealing with any aspect of winter inactivity (hibernation)—physiology, behavior, ecology, reproduction, etc.—are especially encouraged. To make the IBA more approachable to the general public, the conference will devote time to outreach, which will include a presentation on children’s literature and music dealing with bears. Exciting field trips are planned. Of special interest will be travel up nearby canyons to hear and see bull elk bugling for mates.
Attendance at the conference is open to anyone with an interest in bears.
